“That’s it. I’m quitting.”

“Against the Advantage” is a one-minute play first published in Fresh Words International Literary Magazine’s “Test Tube Theater: An Anthology of One-Minute Plays Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World” in July 2025.

This play is a brief glimpse into the pressure that children and teenagers face in today’s world, placed upon them by their parents. Forced to pursue activities (like sports) that may not be their passion, the young generation must let go of their childhoods in order to grasp at success and security for their futures.

Faced with this reality, will Norah be able to follow through with her threat of finally quitting the sport that she has pursued for so long?
